Make Microsoft® Office work for you with PDW Portfolio

One of the compelling reasons to take a closer look at PDW Portfolio is that it leverages the Microsoft® Office product that you already own and know.

The PDW philosophy is to get your company productive quickly, and that means avoiding the lost time and cost of deploying new database servers and application servers at your datacenter.

Leveraging the Microsoft® Office platform allows PDW to implement a Portfolio Control system in days, not weeks or months. In addition, we are able to provide the flexibility and portability required to support your existing business processes when most competing tools will require significant business process re-engineering.

The process flow works like this:

PDW Portfolio applications install to Microsoft® Windows 2000 or XP, and have the same HW specifications as Microsoft® Office. As a result, many of our customers create value by leveraging existing application servers to install our products.

PDW Portfolio imports data from Microsoft® Project to leverage project scheduling and tracking work that has already been done by project managers. This eliminates the need for dual entry by the portfolio planning team.

PDW Portfolio stores data in the PDW Repository database, which installs to your choice of Microsoft® SQL Server or Microsoft® Access. We interact with both of these products natively so either option is an excellent choice.

PDW Portfolio provides data views that use the Microsoft® Excel spreadsheet grid. The PDW Marketing team has confirmed that Microsoft® Excel is the presentation tool of choice for most executives with P&L responsibility. The Excel format is both portable for laptop users and well understood by all business managers across the organization. Excel is so important to some organizations that they hire staff members just to reformat proprietary web data into excel for analysis by the executive staff. With PDW, the efficiency is built in. All views are presented directly in excel, and offline copies can be sent to other office users with a few mouse clicks.

The result is a system that offers a relatively low cost training requirement for both end users and administration personnel. This High Impact / Low Risk approach is what differentiates Portfolio DecisionWare, Inc. from traditional solutions.
